A LANGUAGE PROBLEM

An engineering client commissioned us to conduct a study involving engineers based in a certain part of south China. The topics required knowledge of engineering tools and terminology, both in English and Chinese. Force Research chose to recruit a Chinese engineering expert to assist in understanding the language, terminology, and industry tools to allow engineers to talk about issues in their “own” language. Discussions with the engineers were productive and effective. None of the participants suspected that the moderator was an outsider to the industry.
